GTV LAUNCHES SONORK EIM AND UNVEILS CUSTOMERS OF ENTERPRISE INSTANT MESSAGING SOLUTION

New Sonork EIM Powers Secure Presence-Based Instant Messaging, Data Localization and Collaborative Business Networks

NEW YORK – APRIL 14, 2003 - GTV, a leading provider of Enterprise Instant Messaging (EIM) and Collaborative Information Management solutions, today announced the launch of Sonork EIM, the most reliable, extensible, feature-rich enterprise instant messaging solution on the market. Leading the evolution from IM to EIM, GTV’s Sonork EIM enables businesses to dramatically reduce costs and improve workflow.

The company today also announced deployments of Sonork EIM by a wide array of Fortune 1000 customers and other top concerns. Customers using Sonork EIM include AT&T, Commerzbank, Electronic Data Systems (EDS), Eolas Technologies, Ericsson Austria, Hewlett-Packard Asia-Pacific, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Title Data, Inc. (TDI), The United Nations Refugee Agency, and many others. GTV's solutions are currently in-use by more than 5,000 businesses, government agencies and consumer media brands worldwide.

The new Sonork EIM product enables rapid deployment of presence-based messaging, localization, and collaborative networks within a secure enterprise environment. Sonork EIM is built atop GTV’s powerful Sonork Application Platform – which is deployment tested and features an extensible design that provides the flexibility to create custom applications tailored for each customer’s needs.

Sonork EIM significantly improves workflow by seamlessly integrating with existing data sources and third-party enterprise application suites. The solution enables rapid internal communications that are archivable for accurate record-keeping, while its secure peer-to-peer data transfer reduces email server costs and is scalable for future enterprise information transfer needs. Sonork EIM’s robust server boasts an extremely small footprint and is installed behind a customer’s firewall, supporting both intranet and extranet configurations.

“Just as email revolutionized global business, GTV’s Sonork EIM pushes the progression toward maximum communications efficiency and is driving the inevitable widespread adoption of presence-based messaging in the workplace,” said Ken Mayer, GTV Chairman and CEO. “Although free consumer IM services have driven global proliferation of the basic technology, successful enterprise implementation requires more than just re-packaging popular consumer software with additional security. Sonork EIM was built exclusively for enterprise usage, offering the advanced functionality, network integration and stability that businesses demand; while reducing costs associated with other existing means of communication.”

Dan Keldsen, Senior Analyst, Delphi Group said: “Instant Messaging in the enterprise is mired in confusion. Clearly it's not going away - nor should it! Organizations need to see beyond the cute emoticons of consumer IM, or the 'it's too dangerous' thinking. Enterprises need to embrace IM as the next generation of messaging, enabling a wave of 'presence-enabled' apps that tie people and resources into a (near-) real-time engine for business.”

Sonork EIM includes the standard features users expect from instant messaging applications (e.g. one-to-one and multiple user conferencing, file transfer, personal user lists, etc.) and offers a client interface that conforms to what users expect from IM, but is distinguished by unique features built specially for enterprise users. With functionality that extends far beyond consumer IM services, the Sonork EIM product is designed to bolster a company’s ability to manage and store business-critical information generated through internal collaboration or external client-vendor interaction.

UNIQUE WEB APPLICATION INTEGRATION
One of Sonork EIM’s most distinguishing features is its ease of use in tightly integrating database driven Web applications, controlled by the Sonork server and distributed to end users through a company’s custom Sonork EIM client console. Businesses can utilize this functionality to easily create and integrate digital forms, database applications, pre-formatted instant messages and more into their customized Sonork solutions. This unique “WebApps” feature empowers customers to better interact with their existing databases to collect, store, organize and disseminate structured information. The applications of Sonork EIM “WebApps” are limitless, as companies can replace or augment an existing Intranet; replace paper forms; streamline customer relationship management; improve supply chain management; improve task management; and much more.

PERSISTENCE AND ARCHIVABILITY
Messages and/or files are transmittable to both online and offline users; they are available whenever and wherever the recipient logs on next
Group sending of files to online and offline users
Users can reply to specific messages and create conversation threads
Sonork EIM server logs all activity in the network (messages, file transfers, presence indicators, etc), with time-stamped records available to individual users and/or network administrators company-wide; Multiple storage and permissions options also are provided
Accurate client-side records of conversations, with unlimited message history on-screen at all times
Client-side message logs are searchable by date, content, length, type, and nine other options; with all message, data and exchange logs instantly exportable to HTML or text files.

FULLY INTEGRATES THE ENTIRE ENTERPRISE
Unification of existing enterprise applications across a network
Tracker Rooms & Call Signs – “Help Desk” features allow users to look-up and communicate with colleagues assigned as support contacts for specific areas of a business. Users can belong to or be assigned on the server-side to more than one group, such as “Technical Support,” “Marketing” or “Human Relations”
Uniquely integrates company-specific Web-based applications, running on any Web server and interacting with most any ODBC database distributed through the secure Sonork network.
Through the use of database driven Message Templates and WebApps, free-form emails and paper forms are replaced with structured digital forms that interact with predefined databases.
In connection with such enterprise applications as Microsoft Office and MS NetMeeting, Sonork EIM users can also use voice, video and whiteboard functions in a peer-to-peer environment, further enhancing Sonork EIM features.

UNPARALLELED STABILITY
The Sonork Server uses patent-pending algorithms and techniques to optimize system throughput. A proprietary scheme of thread management prioritizes work within the server to maintain fast response times for message traffic – while relegating long running activities, not requiring immediate response, to lower priority threads. Extensive use of intelligent caching optimizes database access and data availability. Selectable use of UDP and TCP/IP message/data transfer protocols improves bandwidth in congested systems and minimizes connection overhead. Furthermore, the Sonork Server uses a highly optimized binary protocol for data exchange, guaranteeing the lowest network bandwidth with least processing overhead.

Incredibly light client footprint – only 800Kb
Automatic Peer-to-Peer connections to relieve server load
“Friendly” with other applications residing on network-connected computers
Automatic compression of all message and files transfers
Dual UDP/TCP mode support; UDP is highly reliable on low speed/high-packet-loss connections as is apparent in mobile messaging
TCP enables support for SOCKS and Firewalls

SECURITY & ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROL
Encrypted data transfer and storage - Sonork offers complete control over IM usage, reducing corporate security violations by archiving all conversations & files transferred across a system.
Allows or prohibits employee access to the system, and enforces the use of professional screen names.
Provides protection against ‘snooping,’ a common problem with public instant messengers
Entire system runs behind corporate firewall
Flexible extranet configuration and access options – Sonork provides VPN-style support for extending access and usage outside a company’s intranet without compromising security
Highly sophisticated file transfer agent – Sonork pervasively and automatically encrypts, compresses and temporarily stores files sent between users. Capacity of repository is configurable, including rules for when to automatically delete old or unclaimed files
Stable and robust, yet easy to configure, install and administer.
Extensive drag & drop environment simplifies use of both client and server utility.
